A Saturday Morning in Sanctuary Village – Franklin, NC

front porch

This past Saturday morning in Sanctuary Village, I awoke early morning as light made its way through the blinds. The dawn lit up the bird feeder that hangs just outside my porch, where a pair of cardinals were singing. As I stepped out my front door, the first rays of the morning sun were close to peeking over the treetops, and everything around me was quiet except for the songs of the birds and the trickling of the small creek near my house. Such a wonderful setting to wake up to every morning!

Morning Coffee

After a relaxing cup of coffee on the front porch, I headed off for a leisurely stroll to Main Street and the Bent Willow Bakeshop for breakfast with a good friend. Located inside a historic family home that was originally built in 1922, they are hands down the best place in Franklin to get fresh-baked artisan bread, biscuits, pastries, and more.

We indulged in caramel lattes and their homemade quiche filled with portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, and smoked bacon! Before we left, I picked out a Chocolate Chip Sourdough loaf to take home for later.

Shopping

After breakfast, we walked just up the block to the Saturday morning Farmers Market. Local vendors always have such a great variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables. I continued to browse thru my favorite shops on Main Street, and then made my way back home. What a beautiful way to start the day!
