Franklin’s rich history and wealth of natural resources unite to make it a perfectly charming southern mountain town. For many decades, gems and minerals have been mined throughout the region, trout have been farm raised or caught wild in the meandering rivers, and crops have been successfully cultivated in the wholesome soil. In recent years, thanks to that healthy soil and a dream, vineyards have been planted here, and the locally bottled wine made from those grapes is now available right here in Macon County!
Senamore Vineyard and Farms is located just north of Franklin, in a small place called Tellico. Tellico has long been known for its pristine waters, perfect for trout farming and excellent fishing. Yet still, one family recently turned their historic 1878 farmhouse and land into a vineyard. You’ll now find them here producing local, distinguished and delicious wines. They offer six vintages that include reds, whites, rose, and even a honey wine. Groups of up to six (6) can book a private tasting and tour of the vineyards, wine production facilities, and surrounding area.
Moreover, the vineyard has recently opened a tasting station in downtown Franklin called Slanted Window Tasting Station. They call it a unique “Farm-To-Glass” experience. They offer guests the opportunity to sample all of the wines from the vineyard. Taste their wines served by the flight, the glass, or the bottle. The menu also consists of small plates, fresh salads, and decadent desserts.
