Each year, when the frost clears and the trees fill out with endless leaves of green and fragrant blooms, Main Street in Downtown Franklin comes alive with various gatherings and special events. The first large event of the 2023 Season is a newcomer to the area, and it’s sure to delight locals and visitors alike! The Spring Makers Market is a curated artist market, which means that all of the products that will be on exhibit and for sale are unique and local to the region. The event will take place from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 27. Read on to discover everything that this tailored event has to offer!
Makers
The event will boast more than 50 of the region’s top producers and makers. Visitors will have the chance to browse pottery, jewelry, clothing, art, and a variety of other handmade items throughout the booths. If you’re interested in the process of some of the makers, The Gem & Mineral Society and Museum and Ruby City Gems & Minerals will both showcase working flumes during the event.
Entertainment
A handful of local bands have been booked to entertain with live music throughout the event. Delphine, Scott, and Dave form a musical trio known as BlueJazz. Believe it or not, these three jazz dynamos initially met at a local thrift shop, and the story of their music has grown from that chance introduction. Their repertoire of jazz hits will surely have your feet tapping along with the music! Another popular local talent, Bobby Wallace, has also been booked for the event. He’s known as “The Country Jukebox”, because he can play any country song you want to hear!
Food
As is customary in Western North Carolina, the food will never disappoint. Gracious Plates on Main is known as “The Best Farm-to-Table Experience in Franklin, NC”. The restaurant located on Main Street be open to serve its full menu. It includes small plates, soups, salads, cocktails, and more. It will also be hosting a food tent outside on Main Street to serve Brasstown beef hotdogs. When you’re ready for something sweet and cold, head on over to Sweet Carolina’s Mobile Ice Cream Shoppe. You won’t be able to miss the beautifully designed pink and white bus that the owner has transformed into a local ice cream favorite!
Activities
If you’re bringing kids with you, beware that upon arrival, they will likely drag you straight to the Petting Zoo hosted by Little Rascals’
Pony Rides. But that’s only if they don’t see the Face Painting booth hosted by Macon Faces Face Painting first! As you walk through the event, the entire family will have the chance to enjoy themselves. Giant Jengas, corn hole stations, yard games, bounce houses, fire trucks, and raffles.
Sanctuary Village
The beautiful streets of Sanctuary Village are just a short 5-10 minute walk to Main Street in downtown Franklin. The Spring Makers Market and a variety of other events will take place throughout the 2023 Season.
