Spring activities and events in Western North Carolina often align with seasonal highlights. One wonderful occurrence is the seemingly endless blooms that appear as winter fades into the sunny warmth of spring. The subtropical highland climate creates the perfect atmosphere for flowering plants, bushes, and trees to show off their very best colors for locals and visitors to enjoy. So it comes as no surprise that a multitude of special events take place across the region during spring, providing family entertainment for days or even weeks on end. Spring at Biltmore
If you have never visited Biltmore House in Asheville, then Spring is definitely the time to do it. Now through May 25, the Biltmore Estate is featuring their gardens filled with thousands of colorful blooms. Visitors experience an enchanting European escape as they stroll through the grounds and have the opportunity to savor the Winery’s award-winning vintages.
Taste of Scotland Festival
This annual Franklin event features a Celtic festival and highland games for the entire family to enjoy. Every year in June, the Macon County Fairgrounds is filled with Scottish crafters and vendors, as well as various Scottish food and musical performances. And of course, you won’t want to miss cheering on the Highlands Games Competition or watching the Herding Dog Demonstrations.
Saluda Arts Festival
Each year, Saluda, NC hosts the Saluda Arts Festival. This event hosts more than 80 local and regional artists who showcase and sell their masterpieces. Live entertainment and various food vendors add to the event and create an atmosphere of all-day fun.
Asheville Beer Week
The Asheville Brewers Alliance created this May event to showcase the growing and innovative world of craft beer in Western North Carolina. The week-long program will feature collaboration releases, film screenings, beer dinners, educational seminars, brewer meet & greets, and friendly brewery competitions.
And that’s just the short list of all of the events taking place across Western North Carolina during the Spring months. It’s undoubtedly one of our four favorite seasons here in the mountains!
