Winter Wonderland in Franklin, NC

Christmas Tree on the Square in Franklin, NC

Each year, as soon as the Thanksgiving turkeys have been devoured, the town of Franklin, NC launches a month-long celebration of Christmas. For two consecutive Saturdays following Thanksgiving, Main Street in downtown closes to vehicle traffic from 5:00-8:00 PM and turns into a lighted spectacle of holiday joy known as Winter Wonderland.

Saturday, November 25 is Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to promoting the support of locally-owned businesses during the peak of Christmas shopping. Franklin’s Main Street merchants will remain open that evening during the Winter Wonderland festivities and will be offering special holiday sales, unique gifts, and Christmas cheer!

The first of the two Saturdays also features the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, when the larger-than-life Christmas tree on the Square in downtown Franklin will come to life with hundreds of lights and plenty of holiday tunes.

Both Saturdays will also feature photo opportunities with Santa, free horse & carriage rides, holiday window displays, food and drinks, and memories that will last a lifetime!

You haven’t experienced the holidays until you’ve spent them in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where the true spirit of Christmas rings in the season for both residents and visitors alike.
