Franklin, North Carolina is known for its small-town feel and close-knit community. While large cities are full to the brim with chain stores and restaurants, this small mountain town prides itself on providing unique experiences and supporting small businesses. So it is no surprise that our town is home to a variety of quaint, locally-owned coffee shops, each of which will offer a fantastic Cup of Joe! Here are my favorite places for coffee in downtown Franklin, NC.
Main Street Coffee & Yogurt
As a long-time local favorite on Main Street, this coffee shop offers a variety of hot, iced, and blended espresso drinks and sells its coffee beans by the pound for anyone who’d like to take some home. Their most unique feature is a flavored soft-serve yogurt station with an array of toppings. Mix and match to create your own decadent dessert and then indulge!
Rathskeller Coffee Bar & Pub
Just down the alley from Main Street, another local favorite sits nestled in a historic basement, still lined with the original red brick. The Rathskeller offers a cool, eclectic vibe to go with its full espresso bar and fresh-baked goodies. They have live music every Friday and Saturday evening and Trivia for the whole family every Wednesday night.
Crabtree General Store
This little gem offers a full-service coffee drive-through right in the middle of downtown. Located next to the Gazebo and across from the courthouse, the Crabtree General Store has a full hot and iced coffee menu, as well as a variety of locally-made crafts and decor for purchase. If you have time to enjoy your coffee on site, you can sit in the rocking chairs on the raised front porch and watch the activities of downtown.
Leo’s Caffe Italia
A recent addition to the area, Leo’s Caffe Italia is the only local place where you can find an authentic Italian espresso drink made to order. We highly recommend their cappuccino! They also have freshly baked Italian pastries, which are the perfect complement to their coffees, and brick oven-fired pizzas.
Bent Willow Bakehouse
Bent Willow is a quaint coffee shop located inside a historic home on Main Street. Its also my favorite place to get a cup of coffee downtown. They have the most beautiful bread, baked fresh daily, and very unique cookie flavors. Both indoor seating throughout the original rooms of the home and outdoor seating on the wide front porch provide visitors with multiple views while they enjoy their coffees and pastries.
